Transportation was the theme for this week. We sorted forms of transportation by location.
We ran our transportation through paint and made tracks.

We sorted our forms of transportation by color,
We had transportation centers where we worked on fine motor skills.
 We crawled through "train tunnels."

We had so much fun with transportation this week!

The last week of school was exciting.  The 4s classes experimented with "Sink or Float." Each child placed an object in the tub of water and predicted if it would sink or float.  We talked about how scientists constantly make guesses and many of their guesses are wrong but that's okay because that helps them learn.
The 3s class had some time to work on fine motor skills during week #36.
The 4s classes also worked on a kindergarten readiness worksheet and drew self-portraits on the last day of school.
Our second science lesson of the week was "Living vs. Non-Living." We said that all living things need food, water and air and they can move/grow by themselves.
We obviously took a little extra time to play with our friends since we won't be seeing some of them for awhile.
The 3s class also drew self-portraits on their last day of Pre K3.  Have a safe and wonderful summer everyone!!

It's hard to believe that we just finished week #35.  The 4s classes learned about shadows in science on Monday and we matched some pictures to their shadows. We also played shadow tag outside. (See the last picture on this post.)
The 3s practiced our colors and shapes by playing Bingo on Tuesday.
We enjoyed the beautiful weather this week by blowing bubbles outside on Wednesday.

On Wednesday we also talked about heavy vs. light and we had fun experimenting with objects to see which was heavier. On Thursday, the 3s class drew crayon pictures on the easels.

Friday was Community Day.  We had a presentation on recycling at City Park where we also played at the playground and served by setting up lunch for the entire school.  It was a little chilly but the kids had a great time.  THANK YOU to all of the parents who stayed to help as well!!

Along with talking about our senses, we practiced letter recognition in the 4s classes by playing letter Bingo with q-tips and paint. The 3s class practiced coloring inside the lines.
The 3s also practiced tossing and catching with beanbags while the 4s created beautiful gifts for their moms for Mother's Day.

The 3s class also had some scissor practice and the 4s classes played outside with chalk and hopscotch.  What a busy and fun couple of weeks! Our school year is winding down but we still have some more fun planned.

Weeks #33 and #34 were dedicated to our senses. We had a feeling mystery bag where each child felt something and tried to guess what it was.
We also smelled several items such as coffee grounds, cinnamon, pickles, and a lemon.  We also tried to guess what those were without looking.
We wrote our names with scented markers and tried to guess what scent the marker they were using was.  Lastly, we had a taste test with goldfish crackers, animal crackers, fruit snacks, and cereal.
We capped our unit off with a field trip to Simpson Garden Park where we used our senses and
 even saw a bullfrog.
The children had a great time playing in the childrens' garden before we
walked to the Sundae Station to enjoy our sense of taste with some ice cream.  It was a beautiful day for this trip. THANK YOU to the many parents who drove and came along to make it a success!

We had so much fun learning about farm animals in the 4s classes during Week #32! We practiced writing our names using feathers and paint.  I think that was a lot harder than they thought it would be.
In the big room, we corralled pigs (pink balloons) into their pens (hula hoops). The pigs kept getting out so we had to keep trying.  When we were finished everyone got to claim a pig as their own.
Last week, we created a Zoo Animals poster so this week we created a Farm Animals poster.
The highlight of the week had to have been our field trip to Emmie's farm.  That was SO MUCH FUN!! We got to see Smokey the calf and his mom Snowball.
 There were also goats,
Otis and two more cows, and some cats.
There was hay to climb on,
 tractors to climb into,
and donuts and juice boxes to enjoy.  THANK YOU to the Bellevilles for letting us come and to all of the drivers who helped make it happen!!
The 3s class had some fun this week too.  We started to create our letter and number books and we played with playdough. A couple of them asked about a field trip and I promised them that next year we would take some.
