We talked about zoo animals during week #31. The 3s class counted, identified, and then ate animal crackers and also played in the rice table with zoo animals.
The 4s classes painted paper plate lions with forks.
We talked about the 5 groups of animals-mammals, fish, birds, amphibians, and reptiles. On Friday, we looked through magazines and cut out zoo animals to glue onto a poster.
To finish off our week, some of us played with some shaving cream on the "donut" table.

We spent week #30 celebrating Easter. The 4s classes made finger print crosses which turned out really pretty.
All of the kids loved the egg hunt in the Big Room. Each child was instructed to find and count 10 eggs. Then they opened them to see their treasures and took them home to enjoy.
On Wednesday, the 4s used clothespins and pom poms to decorate paper eggs which also turned out really well. The 3s class used plastic eggs to stamp paint instead.
They also enjoyed their egg hunt. They still found ten eggs but we broke it up and only found and counted two or three at a time so that it wasn't overwhelming.
At the end of our day on Thursday, each child chose a different color of play dough and we played with rolling pins and plastic eggs to make some fun creations.

The 3s class had some free write time during week #29. We had the special opportunity to use markers this time.
Usually we color with crayons like on this math worksheet where we colored 15 balls of yarn for the kitten. We were trying really hard to match the colors AND stay inside the lines. They did an amazing job!
We also played in the rice table again this week. We were practicing our scooping and pouring.
The 4s classes opened some eggs to reveal a letter inside. The children had to name the letter inside their egg and also match their letter with the matching upper/lowercase letter that one of their classmates had. Both 4s classes had some free choice time this week where they could choose either the rice table, playing with toys, or painting on the easels. Many chose the painting.

Week #27 was another short week due to interesting weather. Our letter was Rr and we read "The Rainbow Fish" on Monday and then created our own rainbow fish with bubble wrap and paint. They turned out so pretty.
We also learned the colors of a rainbow and practiced putting them in order on a rainbow necklace on Wednesday.
On Friday we turned the letter R into a rabbit by cutting out ears, feet, a tail, and a face and then gluing them onto the R for the finished product. Not only did we get some cutting practice in, we had fun doing it!

In the big room, we practiced hopping through hula hoops that were in rainbow order. Hopping was hard for some of us, but by the end of our practice, we were doing a pretty good job of keeping our feet together.
We did a fun art project during week #26, based on Piet Mondrian's famous square paintings. After I taped off each paper, the students painted inside each square with a different color. Then I peeled off the tape and here are some of our amazing creations!
We celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday this week by reading "The Cat in the Hat," "There's a Wocket in My Pocket," and "Green Eggs and Ham." Then each child wrote the letters of their name on white strips and glued them onto red hats for some name practice fun.

Week #24 was a short week due to conferences but we did work on the letter Qq while talking about Queen Esther. We decorated crowns in the 3s class.
During week #25, we read "The Snowy Day" in the 4s classes and played in some "snow" inside because there wasn't any outside.
We also worked on sequencing the story after we had read it.
These paper towel tubes and straws were fun to build with.
We also read "Artic Winter, Artic Summer" and compared the differences between seasons here and seasons in the artic. These melted snowmen turned out very cute. We finished our week with scissor practice and identifying shapes.
